Learning Through Investigation

Children in the Wallaby Room are encouraged to dive deeper into their learning through hands-on investigations and project work. With guidance from our experienced educators, they explore their own questions, problem-solve, and collaborate with peers. This fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a love for discovery.

School Readiness Program

Starting school is a big milestone, and our dedicated School Readiness Program ensures each child is well prepared. Through literacy, numeracy, problem solving, and social activities, children gain the foundation they need to enter primary school with confidence and enthusiasm. To further support families, we also host Parent Information Nights where local school principals are invited to share insights and guidance, and we organise school visits to help children and parents feel comfortable and ready for the transition.

Building Independence

A key focus of this age group is developing life skills and resilience. Children are supported to:

  • Dress themselves, including shoes and jumpers

  • Serve their own meals and drinks

  • Care for their personal belongings

These everyday routines build independence, responsibility, and confidence, skills that will benefit them well beyond their preschool years.

Social and Emotional Development

As children prepare for school, we place a strong emphasis on helping them build positive relationships and social skills. In the Wallaby Room, children learn to:

  • Express their feelings effectively

  • Resolve conflicts respectfully

  • Work together in group settings

These experiences nurture empathy, cooperation, and a strong sense of belonging.

Outdoor Learning and Play

Our outdoor environments provide plenty of opportunities for children to challenge themselves physically, develop fundamental movement skills, and enjoy group games. These activities not only build coordination and strength but also encourage teamwork and confidence.

In the Wallaby Room, we aim to foster capable, resilient, and curious learners who are excited to take their next big step into formal schooling and beyond.
